What is a community made of? In what ways are our stories connected? Arquivo Vivo Pasadena (“living archive” in my native Portuguese) makes visible the ways stories, relationships, and memories create meaningful places. Part one incorporates interviews and photographs that focus on the stories of seven Pasadenans including Nicholas Hummingbird, Michael Mims, Sofia Herrera, Vannia De La Cuba, Tom Gertmenian, Christina Yuyu and John Mulchaey. Part two consists of an eclectic body of imagery that the I solicited from the Pasadena community in response to the question, “What does Pasadena mean to you?” Through its investigation of place, memory, and culture, Arquivo Vivo: Pasadena celebrates our identities, pluralities, and intersections. Made possible in part by the Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission and the City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs Division. To see a complete version of the book go to LINK
